What an opt-in costs
One credit ($1) per release, whatever the track count. The artist pays it at checkout, alongside the release itself.
What counts
Paid credits only. 175 credits ONCE granted for free are excluded from every figure here.

ONCE keeps its own checkout and its own data.
- 1
One optional line at release checkout
When an artist releases music through ONCE, checkout includes an opt-in to offset the AI usage behind that release. Artists who opt in pay for it themselves.
- 2
ONCE keeps the record
ONCE stores each opt-in in its own backend. Token Offset reads those rows over a key-gated endpoint ONCE controls, so ONCE decides what we see.
- 3
We price it and send receipts
We convert usage to energy, water and CO₂e with our published per-token method, and ONCE sees every credit in its org dashboard.
- 4
The API carries it too
Releases submitted through ONCE's API carry the same opt-in as a single flag, so partner tools get it with no extra work. Every figure on this page covers both paths.
Method: tokenoffset.com/docs/methodology
Run the same opt-in on your platform.
If your users generate with AI, they can offset it the way ONCE artists do. Tell us where your checkout or billing step is and we'll come back with a mock and a sample ledger.
