Getting started
Signing in, the five onboarding screens, and how to finish anything you skipped.
Token Offset has no passwords. Signing up and signing in are the same step.
- 1Open tokenoffset.com/dashboard and enter your email.
- 2Click Email me a sign-in link. The email comes from hello@tokenoffset.com with the subject Sign in to Token Offset.
- 3Click the link in that email. It works once and expires after one hour. New accounts go to onboarding; returning members go to the dashboard.
No email after a few minutes? Check spam, then request a new link. If you signed up through an AI agent, sign in the same way with the email the agent used. See Agents.
Onboarding
Onboarding runs once, the first time you sign in. It has five screens. Back returns to the previous screen without losing what you entered.
1. About you
Your name is required and shows on your dashboard and in our emails. Company or team, role, and how you heard about us are optional. Tick the box to accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. You can edit your name later in SettingsGeneral.
2. How it works
Three short slides: estimate your usage, see what it costs in energy, water and carbon, and cover it with one monthly amount. Nothing to enter.
3. Set your monthly offset
Pick Casual, Worker, Agentic or Extreme. The large number shows the monthly amount; the minus and plus buttons move it by $1 and turn it into a custom amount. To size it from real usage instead, open the Have a Claude, OpenAI, Cursor, Grok or OpenRouter org key? panel under the bands. The button at the bottom saves the amount and moves on.
4. Start paying it
Add a card to fund the offset each month. The first payment is taken today and the next one a month later. You can add an optional monthly amount for Token Offset itself here; it is kept separate from the offset. Card details go to Stripe.
5. All set
Take me to my dashboard finishes onboarding. You won't see these screens again.
Sizing from a key during onboarding
Pick a provider, follow the steps shown for it, and paste the key. We check the key with the provider right away, then pull your history in the background, which takes from a few seconds to a few minutes. When it finishes you get an estimate with a price and two choices: use it, or go back to the bands. Provider-by-provider steps are on Estimate sources.
If you skipped a step
Skip setup
The link at the top of every onboarding screen. It ends onboarding and opens the dashboard with nothing set up. Everything below still applies.
Decide later on step 3
Skips both the amount and the payment screen. The dashboard shows Not set up yet with a Set up your estimate button that opens the same picker.
I'll set this up later on step 4
Your amount is saved but nothing is charged. The dashboard shows Turn on monthly billing under the offset. The same button is in SettingsBilling.
Closed the tab mid-way
Sign in again and onboarding picks up from the first screen. Anything you already saved is filled in.
